How To Make 2011 Your Best Year Ever

2010 has been one exciting and life-changing year for me! I got married, changed my name, changed my company’s business model, delved into social media marketing and online video marketing, created a personal brand, started my own radio show, hosted a dance exhibition, performed for the first time in 3 years, at Lincoln Center in New York City of all places, the list goes on and on…

But what stood out to me the most, are not the things that I’ve accomplished this year. What stood out the most are the things that I’ve had to gracefully let go of this year. I’ve had to make some hard decisions which included letting go of some things that I enjoyed doing, as well as some things that I decided I really didn’t want to do anymore, in order to align my daily actions with my new goals, focus, and purpose. I think this step is what separates successful people from those who are just stuck in a dead-end daily routine. It is also the difference between those that are truly happy and fulfilled in their life, and those that accept the status quo, day in, and day out.

The great news is that, the power to change your life is in your hands. It starts with you!

If you’d like to make 2011 the best year ever, it’s time for you to stop talking, and start doing!

Here are my 3 steps to make 2011 the best year ever:

1) “Positive thinking will let you do everything better than negative thinking will.” Zig Ziglar – Major change in your life starts with your thoughts. Your thoughts lead to actions. If you tell yourself that you’ll be successful and happy, then you will align your actions to create that life. If you tell yourself that your dreams are too lofty, and you just don’t have the resources to make them happen, then they won’t happen. Change your thinking, and change your life!

2) “A real decision is measured by the fact that you’ve taken a new action. If there’s no action, you haven’t truly decided.” Tony Robbins – If you’ve done step 1, and started changing your thoughts to be in alignment with the life that you want to create, then there are subsequent actions that will take place. If you have all of these great ideas in your mind, but find yourself paralyzed, then you haven’t quite decided that you want to make a change yet. Don’t get stuck! It will seem scary at first. You will be uncomfortable. You may think, “what if I fail, what will people say/think, what if it doesn’t work out?” It’s perfectly natural to feel this way; however, these thoughts/doubts should not stop you from taking action, if you want 2011 to be the best year ever. Step out of your comfort zone because that’s where the really great things happen!

3) Ask Yourself, “How am I going to live today in order to create the tomorrow I’m committed to?” Tony Robbins – Time is more valuable than money because you can always get more money, but you can’t get more time. It is limited. So, you have to look at every day as a very important and integral part of your journey towards your dreams. That means that there will be things that you either reluctantly, or maybe willingly in some cases, need to let go of in your life, in order to begin aggressively moving towards your goals and dreams.

“I believe that being successful means having a balance of success stories across the many areas of your life. You can’t truly be considered successful in your business life, if your home life is in shambles.” ~ Zig Ziglar

The three steps mentioned above are not just for your career or business aspirations, but for your personal life as well.

Success in your business life means nothing if you don’t have wonderful, loving, people around you to share it with. Balance is key.
