How To Customize Your Linkedin Profile With Video
Day 66 in the 90-Day Social Media Success Challenge for Dance Studios…
Linkedin has become the ultimate social network for businesses and professionals of all types. It is a powerful platform that people use to recruit, hire, and research individuals and companies, as well as connect with other powerful players in their industry. If you don’t have a Linkedin profile, you need to create one today (after you read this article).
As a dance studio owner, Linkedin is a great platform that you can use to find great teachers for your dance studio, as well as connect with other people in the dance industry. There are tons of dance professionals on Linkedin.
On Monday, I gave you my little secret for creating a custom landing page for free for your Facebook fan page, by adding a YouTube tab, and video. I also stated that, anywhere you can add video to your social media pages, you should. Did you know that you can add a video to your Linkedin page?
Well, today, I will teach you how to add video to your Linkedin Profile Page.
Slideshare is a website where you can upload and share your Powerpoint and keynote presentations, Word and pdf documents, and professional videos. It has an application that allows you to connect it with your Facebook and Linkedin accounts, and you can even share your presentations and videos on Twitter, or embed them into your website or blog. There are endless possibilities with Slideshare, and I highly suggest that you create an account on this site as well.
This application is what we’re going to use to customize your Linkedin profile page with a video.
Here’s how to do it.
Go to Slideshare.com and create a free account.
Fill out and complete your profile information (be sure to include a picture of yourself, or your dance studio/company logo).
On your account page you will see three sections, Presentations, Documents, Videos, all with the word “Upload” next to them.
Go to the video section, and click on Upload.
Upload a video from your computer. Be sure to fill out all of the information about your video i.e. Title, description, etc.
Once your video is uploaded, scroll down to the bottom of the page, where you’ll see various sections for Slideshare‘s tools, terms of use, help page, etc.
In the bottom right-hand corner you’ll see a section entitled, “Slideshare Outside“. Below it, you will see a “Linkedin App” link. Click on that link.
The next page will provide you with the option to add the Slideshare application on your Linkedin profile page, and homepage.
Once you’ve added this application, you now have the option to display your video on your Linkedin page. Here’s how:
- Go to the view page for your video
- Select “Show on Profile” and confirm
- Make sure settings on the left say “show the player” instead of thumbnails.
- Your video should now show up on your Linkedin profile page.
You can check out what this looks like on my Linkedin profile page. Click here to view my page.
